New York may have as many as 93 cases of children presenting with a new pediatric multi-system inflammatory syndrome likely linked to COVID-19. At least three children have died, and two more deaths are under investigation, Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced.

…Cuomo said of the mysterious sickness that mimics the rare inflammatory condition Kawasaki disease.
Cuomo said that it has been tricky to detect because it “does not present as a normal COVID case,” by attacking blood vessels and the heart rather than the respiratory system.
"As it turns out, these children happened to have the COVID antibodies, or be positive for COVID…," Gov. Cuomo said Saturday.
Cuomo said, adding that the state……will conduct further studies to better understand the illness.
The coronavirus has largely spared children. Most confirmed to be infected have had only mild symptoms. But doctors in Europe and the United States have recently reported a troubling new phenomenon: Some children are becoming seriously ill with symptoms that can involve inflammation in the skin, eyes, blood vessels and heart.
Some children in the United Kingdom with no underlying health conditions have died from a rare inflammatory syndrome which researchers believe to be linked to COVID-19, Health Secretary Matt Hancock said on Tuesday.

"It's a new disease that we think may be caused by coronavirus and the COVID-19 virus, we're not 100% sure because some of the people who got it hadn't tested positive…"
"I've asked the national clinical director for children and young people to look into this as a matter of urgency," Powis said.
