The palace source said there was a view the couple were "in a fragile place".
Kensington Palace had no comment on the ITV film, which aired on Sunday.
The documentary followed the Duke and Duchess of Sussex on their tour of southern Africa earlier this month.
In interviews, the couple both said they were struggling with the intense scrutiny from elements of the British tabloid press.
The palace source played down suggestions that Prince William was "furious" with his brother after the documentary aired on Sunday.
It followed Prince Harry's admission in the film that he and William have "good days" and "bad days".
Asked about media reports of a rift between the brothers, the Duke of Sussex said that "inevitably, stuff happens" as a result of "this family being under the pressure that it's under".
He added: "We are brothers. We will always be brothers.
"We are certainly on different paths at the moment, but I will always be there for him as I know he will always be there for me."
Alarm bells are ringing. This morning a well-placed source told the BBC that Prince William was 'furious' with his brother about the interview he gave.
A palace source said that was not his understanding of the prince's mood. Instead the official suggested a mood of concern, for the safety of the couple.

This was an especially bitter campaign in Canada. Trudeau’s government had been rocked by two serious scandals, one involving photos of the prime minister in blackface and brownface, the other involving political interference with a federal prosecution.
His campaign went negative — attacking Andrew Scheer, the leader of the opposition Conservative party, as unacceptably conservative on social and economic issues — to scare the generally progressive Canadian electorate into sticking with them.
Apparently, it worked. While Liberal power in Parliament is diminished, it’s still a win for the embattled prime minister. And thanks to the way that Canada’s system works, Canadian policy actually could end up being pushed to the left.

And the discussion around pronouns is quickly seeping into American politics. Currently, half of the 12 Democratic presidential hopefuls have added their personal pronoun preferences to their Twitter bios—Elizabeth Warren, Kamala Harris, Pete Buttigieg, Julián Castro (who also includes él, which is “he” in Spanish), Cory Booker, and Tom Steyer.
All six use personal pronouns associated with their assigned-at-birth genders, but the declaration of one’s personal choice is more poignant for people who are transgender, gender fluid, gender-nonconforming, or nonbinary.
“Proactively asking someone’s pronouns is the first step to take,” says Gillian Branstetter, spokeswoman for the National Center for Transgender Equality, who is a trans woman. “Trans people have to educate people around us all the time. The point of putting pronouns in an email signature and proactively offering yours is to relieve some of that burden.”
She added that once instructed—or corrected—you should use the personal pronoun the person wants. Ignoring how an individual wants to be identified is a microaggression.

4. Rihanna
“Gang Gang. just me and my #GlossyPosse !!! @fentybeauty,” tweeted RiRi.
@fentybeauty”。
Fans took to social media to voice their disapproval based on their troubled past (The couple split in 2009 after Brown physically assaulted Rihanna). “Years of an abusive relationship brought about by the man singing this song,” tweeted one user, while Rihanna reportedly blocked another fan for their comment.
But not everyone was mad. Others, including members of Team Breezy, shared their support for her Indigo song selection. “That’s why I love you!! I knew that u we’re not a person that carries bad memories from others,” wrote one fan.
It wasn’t long before Chris himself noticed the post and left a heart emoji in Rihanna’s comments. He also showed his approval by reposting the clip on Instagram Stories with the praying hands and smiling face with hearts emojis.

This ‘Tesla hoverboard’ is what dreams are made of—but it’s just that.
If you see people on the internet freaking out over a Tesla hoverboard today, we hate to break it to you, but it’s fake.
A video of Tesla’s alleged newest product was posted to YouTube, and it seems to have generated quite the buzz on social media.
Alas, the hoverboard in the video is completely computer-generated.
But then again, maybe Elon Musk will see it and decide to try to give making one a go.
It’s no crazier than his flamethrowers, after all.
Last February, Elon Musk sold $10 million worth of flamethrowers in four days.
Musk announced that all 20,000 of the Boring Company-branded flamethrowers have sold out.
Given that they were $500 each, that means Musk moved $10 million worth in the four days since they went on sale.
Musk also announced that every flamethrower will ship with a “complimentary Boring fire extinguisher.”

Specifically, many fear that CRISPR-Cas9 editing carries the potential to introduce errors in the form of uncontrolled insertions and deletions in genetic code, called indels.
Researchers say the new system, dubbed 'prime editing' by its inventors at the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard University, could change the game thanks to a new protein that enables high-precision edits of genetic targets.
"A major aspiration in the molecular life sciences is the ability to precisely make any change to the genome in any location," says genome biologist David Liu from the the Broad Institute.
"We're not aware of another editing technology in mammalian cells that offers this level of versatility and precision with so few byproducts."
The basis of the new prime editing method is an enzyme called reverse tranase. The CRISPR system also uses an enzyme – Cas9 – to cut DNA strands, so that alternative genetic code can be inserted.
Now, thanks to reverse tranase, which is used in conjunction with Cas9 in prime editing, genomic editing has been upgraded again.
In prime editing, a guide RNA called pegRNA guides a modified form of the Cas9 enzyme to snip only a single strand of DNA (preventing the double-strand breaks that can induce unintended disruptions).
After this, the reverse tranase enzyme directly copies edited genetic information contained in the pegRNA to the targeted genomic site.

It began as a simple thumb injury. Then, it spiralled into a dangerous syndrome where a man's gut essentially became a brewery fermenting its own endless alcohol supply - which is not as fun as it sounds.
In a recent case study, doctors recount the strange symptoms of auto-brewery syndrome (ABS): a rarely diagnosed medical condition where simply ingesting carbohydrates can be enough to make you wildly inebriated. Even worse, nobody believes you when you say you haven't been drinking.
At least, that was the case for the unfortunate 46-year-old patient in question, an otherwise healthy man who'd only ever been a light social drinker.
His troubles began in 2011, after he completed a course of antibiotics for a thumb injury. Within one week of finishing the meds, he reported experiencing uncharacteristic personality changes, including depression, 'brain fog', aggressive behaviour, and memory loss.
He was eventually referred to a psychiatrist and given antidepressants, but it was only when the man was pulled over by police one morning in an apparent case of drunk driving that the true nature of his illness started to reveal itself.
When pulled over, he refused to take a breathalyser test and was hospitalised, with tests showing he had a blood alcohol level of 200 mg/dL, equivalent to having drunk approximately 10 alcoholic drinks, and sufficient to induce confusion, disorientation, impaired balance, and slurred speech.
"The hospital personnel and police refused to believe him when he repeatedly denied alcohol ingestion," researchers from Richmond University Medical Centre note in their case report.
After being discharged from hospital, he sought treatment at a clinic in Ohio. In medical tests, most of his readings looked normal, but his stool sample showed the presence of Saccharomyces cerevisiae (also known as brewer's yeast) and a related fungus.
S. cerevisiae has a long history in beer brewing and winemaking (in addition to baking), as it helps ferment carbohydrates and produces alcohol.

Other recyclables such as cardboard and plastic bottles are also accepted by the programme initiated by the Bermis Gading neighbourhood in January last year.
Bermis Gading
The waste bank was set up with a simple mission – to encourage the locals to recycle and reduce waste. After residents deposit recyclables here, the waste bank would clean and sell them to the North Jakarta government.
In April this year, pawnshop PT Pegadaian offered to collaborate with this waste bank – and four other waste banks in Jakarta – by rewarding the residents with gold.
Mdm Roswanthy Suweden, 67, is one of the serious participants of the programme. She has collected enough recyclables to receive more than 10g of gold.
“I’m happy. I save little by little, and over time I have a lot. The gold is for my children and grandchildren,” she told CNA at the waste bank.
Head of North Jakarta environment agency Mr Slamet Riyadi applauded the idea of offering gold as an incentive to recycle.
Women, who usually manage the households, will find the scheme attractive, he said.
“Before it worked together with the pawnshop, it had around 34 or 36 customers (residents who took part in the programme). But since the partnership, the number increased to 105,” Mr Riyadi said.

Wing is working with FedEx Express and Walgreens on this pilot, and their first customers are Michael and Kelly Collver, who will get a “cough and cold pack,” which includes Tylenol, cough drops, facial tissues, Emergen-C and bottled water (do people who have colds need bottled water?).
The Collvers are receiving their package in Christianburg, Va., which is where Wing and Walgreens will run this inaugural pilot of the drone delivery service.
Walgreens gets a noteworthy credit in the bargain, becoming the first U.S. retailer to do a store-to-customer doorstep delivery via drone, while FedEx will be the first logistics provider to deliver an e-commerce drone delivery with a separate shipment.
Wing is also working with Virginia’s Sugar Magnolia, a retailer local to the state, and that part of the equation is focused on proving out how Wing and drone delivery can service last-mile e-commerce customers at their homes.
Sugar Magnolia customers can get small items, including chocolates and paper goods, delivered directly to them via drone through the new pilot.
Sugar Magnolia
Wing was able to do this with a new Air Carrier Certificate from the FAA that clears it for expanded service, specifically allowing Wing’s pilots to manage multiple aircraft flying without any human pilot on board at the same time, while providing service to the public.

The issue is so serious, that Samsung has told owners who use any front screen covers to “refrain from using the cover until your device has been updated with a new software patch.”
The new warning from Samsung goes even further though, telling users who have deployed covers to replace the fingerprints stored on their devices.
Samsung had already said it was "aware of the case of the malfunctioning fingerprint recognition and will soon issue a software patch."
And there’s an update here also: Samsung has promised that software update will be available during the week of October 21.
“Once updated,” the company says, “scan your fingerprint in its entirety, so that all portions of your fingerprint, including the center and corners have been fully scanned.”
Basically, users are advised to replace all the biometric data on the device.
The new Qualcomm in-display technology in the S10 and Note10 has always been a challenge for screen protectors. A small gap between the protector and the screen resulted in recognition challenges.
But one fix at least seems to capture a successful fingerprint match from the original user within the gel cover—essentially applying that correct fingerprint when pressure is applied.
